JAVA, the Japanese Visitors Association, is a Non-Profit Organization that exists to support Japanese speakers visiting the Toronto area by providing the following 3 things:
Informational and social support to help make their stay more enriching and enjoyable
Opportunities for Japanese speakers to show their talent/art/work in Toronto
Opportunities for Japanese speakers to gain volunteer work and leadership experience in both English and Japanese as JAVA staff and volunteers
In particular, we focus on helping student visa holders and working holiday visa holders, but we also welcome any kind of visitor to our group – Japanese, Canadian, or other – who has an interest in promoting good relations and communication, and having fun!
On the second Friday of every month, JAVA hosts a Pub Night. This Pub Night was created to provide a casual atmosphere where Canadians, Japanese, and others can meet, share information, and have fun. Each month, a mixture of first-timers, pub night veterans, and JAVA staff gather to drink and chat. We usually have anywhere from 60-100 people show up. Everyone is welcome, so please come down and check it out.
