There will be a “guidance session” for Japanese nationals interested in working for a United Nations organizations held at the Consulate-General of Japan on Feb. 28. This is an information session held at various locations worldwide under the auspices of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The information session, led by a Ministry official, will be conducted in Japanese for Japanese nationals.

JAVA Tax Return Preparation Seminar

(Japanese Language Only)

Purpose: To Prepare Japanese speakers who came to Canada in 2010 or 2011 on student or working holiday visas for their 2011 Tax Return

Contents: JAVA staff Aki Imamura will lead us in a seminar where we can learn how to prepare to file our tax returns in Japanese

Bring a $5-$10 chocolate gift for our secret cupid chocolate exchange and “Cupid” will give you a ticket. At 9:30, “Cupid” will pass out the chocolate gifts to every who has a ticket. You can pretend it’s a gift of love from Kimu-Taku or that AKB girl!

DJ Elit will be playing another great set, and the JAVA decorations team will be sprinkling love around Alio. Also, JAVA will be putting the door prize policy on pause, but you can still try your luck with our Oh-Mee-Koo-Jee machine (two cups full of chopsticks and luck)

JAVA Pub Night has 2 purposes. First, spread the word about our upcoming JAVA events. Second, to give people a chance to socialize, meet new friends, meet people with the same interests, and practice English and Japanese. Please come out!

David Namisato is a Japanese-Canadian artist who used to live in Aomori, Japan on the JET Programme. On Tuesday, February 7th, he will be releasing his own comic book called “Life After the BOE” (Board Of Education) about the lives of foreigners in small-town Japan.

Please come out and join JAVA in supporting a great artist like David and a great organization like the JET Alumni Association. Admission is free and the book is well-priced at $15, so please come out to Goodfellas Gallery at 1266 Queen Street W between 6:30 and 9:30 on February 7th.
